Since 2003 Productions Totem Contemporain (PTC) has dedicated itself to the development, diffusion and promotion of Jean Francois Laporte’s invented instruments and sound installations. To date PTC has contributed to the realization of 7 installations and 8 sound generators that produce acoustic sounds modulated by mechanical systems often controlled by computers.
From its inception the organization has captured the interest of many international artists, such as the composers Jonathan Harvey, Jesper Nordin and Benjamin Thigpen; the musicians Jean-Paul Bernard, Jean Marc Bouchard, Martin Ouellet, and the ensembles Quasar saxophone quartet, the Orchestre National de France.
It has also received attention from several institutions from different artistic disciplines; among them the Contemporary Art Museum of Santiago de Compostela, the International Contemporary Art Symposium of Baie-St-Paul; the dance companies Choré-Graphie, Susan Buirge and Barbara Sarreau.
In addition to fostering the development and realization of these projects PTC organizes yearly a series of concerts in Montreal.
PTC and Jean Francois Laporte tour internationally and participate regularly in major contemporary music festivals like Gaïda Festival (Lithuania), Agora Festival (Paris), Digital Art Festival (Taipei), Archipel (Switzerland) and the Montreal New Music festival.
Productions Totem Contemporain would like to thanks all of you for your generous support.
