To Jean-François Laporte

The Babel Table is a polyphonic instrument that appealed to me from my first experiments because of its ability to produce energetic and wild sound beings. The composition of the work was articulated around the idea of a sound bestiary made up of roaring, powerful and voluminous materials, or feline, with wild colors, or nervous and unruly, with an astonishing vitality. These are metaphors of life in its simplest expression that also speak a little of us, of what we have been able to forget after successive layers of "civilizations".

The composition of the work includes sections with layered textures where the instrument takes center stage. Other sections, more eventful in their articulations, offer a close interaction between the instrument and the electronic part.

Many thanks to Jean-François Laporte for his great generosity and his precious complicity in the exploration of the instrumental possibilities of the Babel table.
