Émilie Girard-Charest is a Canadian cellist, composer and improviser based in Montreal.

Works

Émilie Girard-Charest is a cellist, composer and improviser. As a soloist and as a member of various ensembles (Allogène, SuperMusique, La Machine, Quatuor d'occasion, Stéphane Pécas, Ensemble for New Music Tallinn, duo Collard-Neven-Girard-Charest, Émilie et Ida), she is actively involved in new music.

As a performer, she has participated in more than sixty creations and has worked with many composers, including Malcolm Goldstein, Michel Gonneville, Maxime McKinley, Joane Hétu, Jean-Luc Fafchamps, Hans Zender, Graciela Paraskevaidis, Enno Poppe and Fredrik Gran. 

She has several recordings to her credit, including Émilie préfère le chant (2016, Ambiances Magnétiques), Race with time (in duet with Mart Soo, 2016, Improtest Records), Avec (2016, Kohlenstoff Records), Musica in camera (Quatuor d'occasion, 2014, &records), Bruit court-circuit (Ensemble SuperMusique, 2012, Ambiances Magnétiques) and Tremblement de fer (Pierre Labbé, 2009, Ambiances Magnétiques).
