Manic is an atmospheric work for Table de Babel which proposes a machine-like sound universe. Its transformations of the instrumental timbre and its deployment are tinged with the fluidity and unpredictability of nature. During my creative process, I was interested in this machine/nature duality that reminded me of hydroelectric dams. Through my exploration of sound, I imagined how the presence of these gigantic human constructions powered by water manifests itself. I would like to thank Jean-François Laporte for his listening, his advice and his wonderful interpretation of the work!
The audiovisual version of Manic was performed at the Espace Bleu du Wilder on November 19, 2021. It is interpreted by Jean-Francois Laporte.
