On July 24, we'll be presenting the Totem Électrique: Répertoire Compositrices concert at the Kirkland day camp, thanks to the CAM en tournée initiative. Our artistic director Jean-francois Laporte will highlight the works of talented female composers: Savannah Agger, Émilie Payeur and Pauline Patie.

Our collaborator Diego Bermudez Chamberland, in duo with artist Cristo Riffo, will present the Dimensions performance at the Maison de la culture Janine Sutto. On this occasion, our instrument, the Bol, will be highlighted, both visually and musically!

Dimensions is a performative work that plunges the audience into the heart of nature through an immersive audiovisual performance at the crossroads of visual art, mixed music (electronic and acoustic), science, ecology and experimental lutherie.

Description

Du Vivant is a kinetic, instrumental performance that recreates the dark world of the film Du Vivant. Printed segments of the film are slowly unfurled on a giant roll of paper, like a photo ribbon, in a prodigious interplay of photography, performance, pinhole and improvised music.

With video artist Annie St-Jean (CALQ Award - Artist of the Year in Centre-du-Québec) and musicians Jean-François Laporte (First Prize in the Luigi-Russolo and Citta' di Udine international competitions), Éric Normand (CALQ Award - Creator of the Year in Bas-Saint-Laurent) and Philippe Lauzier (Quartetski, Ensemble SuperMusique).

On February 23, we're delighted to invite you to an exceptional evening celebrating electroacoustic music with a double program. Opening the evening, the Totem Électrique XVIII concert will feature a series of performative works by Pia Baltazard, Max Bruckert, Pierre Michaud, Clovis Archambault and Pierre-Luc Senécal.

The evening continues with the grand finale of the second edition of the Totem Électroacoustique contest, where the works of the 8 finalists will be broadcast over our high-fidelity loudspeaker system. These original creations will be evaluated live by our esteemed jury, before the results are announced to the public.

For Nuit Blanche, Le Vivier and PTC invite you to discover Spirituel, presented for the first time in Montreal.

This kinetic, sound and visual installation will come to life at St-Hilda Church on March 1, 2025. A unique opportunity to experience this work, already presented in 2024 at FIMAV and the FMC festival.. 

Description

At the heart of this kinetic, sound and visual installation, a celestial ballet unfolds, orchestrated by a circular movement that breathes life and momentum into both sound and light. The 13 devices resonate in a spellbinding dance, where each sound swirls and comes to life, inviting the audience to let themselves be carried away on this sensory journey through a changing landscape.

The work will come to life at St-Hilda's Church from March 3 to March 15, 2025. A unique opportunity to experience this work, already presented in 2024 at FIMAV and the FMC festival.

Description

A unique encounter between Totem contemporain's Table de Babel and the Paramirabo ensemble. 

For several years, Jean-François Laporte and Jeffrey Stonehouse have been imagining this encounter. Now the project has finally come to fruition: the sounds of Paramirabo and the invented instruments of Totem Contemporain meet in works commissioned from composers Julie Delisle, Geneviève Ackerman, Corie Rose-Soumah, Zosha Di Castri and Catherine Young.

Description

On June 6, our artistic director Jean-François Laporte will take part in a fully improvised concert in Germany, sharing the stage with Monatswerk 6, Claudius Lazzeroni, Matthias Schothfeldt, and Jakob Jentgens.

This concert is part of the activities of Schlossfabrik, a non-profit association that brings together creators from the fields of dance, choreography, music, design, design research, as well as new and generative media arts.

Jean-François will close the evening with a performance of Rituel, a signature piece from the Totem repertoire, composed for the unique instrument Flying Can.

A must-see event for all lovers of improvisation and sonic exploration!
