Dimensions is a performative work that immerses spectators in the heart of nature through an immersive audiovisual performance at the crossroads of visual art, mixed music (electronic and acoustic), science and interactive experimental violin making.

On stage, two performers engage in a musical and visual dialogue in total fusion with nature, accompanied by a third protagonist, a microscope, who becomes a true creative force. This microscope, in addition to its physical transformations which allow it to be autonomous in its movements, captures microscopic elements and microorganisms, thus contributing to the visual composition.

Description

Our artistic director Jean-François Laporte will present his new installation Spirituel at the Fimav festival from May 13 to 19 in downtown Victoriaville.

The work features twelve mechanical devices made up of stainless steel bowls, small motorized propellers, light effects and microphone tripods. Centered on the idea of circular movement, everything is in rotation. From its circular layout to its use of propellers whirling around the bowls, the installation converges on cyclicity. It also reuses commonplace everyday objects to reveal their aesthetic, even hypnotic, properties.

The result is an immersive space of sound and light, where the public is free to move around, guided by their senses. All evocations are permitted in this abstract exploration of spirituality. Without referring to a specific religion or cult, the work's shifting harmonies can be reminiscent of church bells or Tibetan singing bowls. It thus invites the imagination and introspection into our individual relationship with spirituality.
